Each night your child will have homework.
Students will have homework each night. Homework is due the next day and should be completed in pencil, unless other directions are given. Below reviews the homework in each area:
Math- A double-sided math worksheet will be sent home Monday thru Thursday. The directions to the homework are on the worksheet. This first side of the homework is a practice of the concepts taught during the daily lesson and the flip side is a review of previous learned skills.
Reading/Reading Logs- Each marking period students will receive a packet of reading logs. Every night the log should be filled in and signed by the parent or another adult who has read with your child. Reading logs should stay in the homework folder as we will check daily and use them to view titles being read at home in addition to assigned books. Students will be taking home "just-right" books from their book bag, guided reading books , and on Thursday an interest book. You may include these titles on their reading log. Please keep your child's reading log in their homework folder.
Fundations- At the beginning of each Fundations unit a parent letter and packet will be sent home. Suggested activities and books to read will be in the packet. Please complete these activities with your child and keep them home.
Trick Words- This year your child will be responsible to learn to read and correctly spell their sight words. New sight words will be sent home weekly. There will be a spelling test each Friday and homework Monday - Thursday. Please continue to practice all sight words until your child can read and spell them in a snap.
